I'm working at a underground night club that is above ground.

Things have been quite hectic here lately as I was releasing my second effect, "Turbo Tube" (Available at http://imaginatormagic.com/IMAGINATORMAGIC/Turbo_Tube.html) so far I have sold all of them out in a little over a week, not too bad. I needed to take a few weeks off this blog.

I'm working at the "China Above Ground Night Club" it's kind of funny how this all transpired, but in case you didn't read my last few blogs, I'll fill you in. A few weeks ago my wife took me out to dinner. We were in China Town, in Chicago. We had a late dinner and the restaurant was practically empty. As my wife and I were finishing up our meal, I couldn't help to notice the restaurant staff breaking down tables and chairs in a hurry.

I asked our waiter what was going on and he told us that they were getting ready for the night club. I said "night club? but this is a restaurant." the waiter then said "Look UP!" I looked up and saw endless intelligent DJ lighting. I used to DJ so I could appreciate the work involved in setting those lights up. They must of had at least five hundred thousand invested in lighting. Which really isn't that much when it comes to lighting. For a huge club that is peanuts.

My wife and I decided to stick around and see how this dance club would turn out. To tell you the truth. I was impressed! by the time they were done changing the room over you couldn't even tell that it was a restaurant. It had 3 floors. All the floors had a balcony which looked down to the main floor.
On the third floor balcony was the DJ booth. My wife and I took a walk around. I couldn't believe how huge it was. As we were walking I couldn't help to notice the restaurant staff looking stressed out. I happened to overhear one waiter whispering to the owner telling him that the band couldn't make it because thy had a flat tire.

I approached the manager and asked if I could help. I informed him that I used to be a DJ and that I also do magic. A big smile came across his face and in some broken English he said "Sure! sure, you go head." so I went to my car to get the cd that I used in Abbott's magic competition 2013. I also decided to bring some of my thimbles with me that I use for my thimble manipulation.

When I got back to the restaurant I was ready to go. I hooked up the headphones and started to DJ. My wife helped me with cuing up some songs to get the dance floor going. In just a little over two hours the place was pumping. I still couldn't believe that several hours ago we were eating dinner there. The DJ booth was sweet. It had a built in mini stage on the balcony that slightly overhung on the dance floor. The DJ control board looked like something out of Star Trek. I decided to start doing some magic and pulled out my thimbles and did a thimble manipulation routine. I got a great response and had many people clapping and cheering.

At one point in the night they had a electrical problem with the spot lights. The owner is a creative genius. He gave some kitchen staff some flashlights and told them to go up on the balconies and shine the flashlight back and forth to mimic the spot lights that were out. They ended up being a huge hit. The people thought it was part pf the show and now the owner has hired not only me to be there in house club magician, but he also hired five flash light people to stand and move flashlights back and forth.

The owner was also nice enough to make a duplicate for me. The curtain that I used in my thimble routine was actually my own curtain that I brought in from my car. I had just did a magic show that same day and left it in the car. Mr Wong, the owner really liked my curtain, but it was dwarfed in this huge nightclub so he got a bigger one made that was 35 feet long by 18 feet high. The cool thing is that it comes apart in sections and I can make it bigger or smaller depending on my shows. I was really flattered that he would do such a thing. It turns out that Mr. Wong's brother owns a curtain company and they are from a very wealthy family from what I gathered.

I'm happy to say that I now got a permanent gig as a house magician at the "China Above Ground Night Club" I guess there are so many underground nightclubs that Mr. Wong decided to capitalize on having a above ground nightclub. Even magic nightclubs are underground and why do they always have to be underground? what are they trying to hide? I sometimes reference the imaginator being underground, but that doesn't really count because I really am underground.

I'm looking forward to posting some of the "China Above Ground Night Club" videos in a few weeks. Not many people know of this place. It has pretty much a unmarked address and the building itself looks like it's abandoned. The club is also a private club and you have to have exclusive membership. Overall it seems to be a well run nightclub. They don't even serve alcohol. It's strictly healthy juice type drinks. My kind of place.

I'm sure this is going to be a great place for me to bring some of my magic routines and ideas to a live audience. I'm excited about this new opportunity. I even have my own backstage studio where I can practice as well as work on my magic inventing process.

That reminds me. I have to effects that I need to work on so I have to go. Thanks for visiting.
