The LOOK of LOVE - The NerdGician

This week I had the privilege to  have a short chat with Martin Fry from ABC

For those of you that may not be familiar with the group. ABC was a pop music band that had His hits, such as ‘The Look Of Love’ and ‘Shoot That Poison Arrow’, hark back to the golden age of Motown by way of Roxy Music and Chic.

One day while in my studio I was working on my NerdGician character- as seen on WGN TV. for an upcoming show at the Laugh Out Loud comedy club. in Schaumburg, IL.

I was skimming through some youtube videos and came across "The Look of LOVE" it was a a concert from 2005. I was really surprised how great they sounded. Martin fry nailed it. Not too many bands can pull off sounding good. Especially when so many years have gone by and are age is starting to show.
Martin on the other hand looks good and his attitude, talent and charisma shines through. I think there is so much genuine honest in his work and lyrics.

After listening to this song I knew that it was a song that I could work into my NerdGician chracter.
The song "look of Love" has so much in depth meaning to it. Some of the lyrics such as
"If you judge a book by the cover
Then you judge the look by the lover
I hope you'll soon recover
Me I go from one extreme to another"

The particular routine that I was working on for my NerdGician chracter was a act that incorporates looks and how many of us feel about ourselves. Sometimes we try to hard to be someone we are not.
We should learn to appreciate ourselves for who we are and love ourselves for who we are.
When we are constantly feeling pressured my TV, radio, movies, book, social media.... on how society makes us think how we should look and act. It's something that starts from a very young age.
Even our parents or brother, sisters and friends can pressure us into becoming someone different then who we are, becoming someone else just to fit in.

Through my high school life it wasn't hard for me at all to be myself, to be who I am. I didn't fit into the snubby groups. THANK GOODNESS! Talk about PLASTIC and SHALLOW! I stick with being by myself anyway. If there is any alumni reading this I would like to ask. "How did that work out for you? are those people still hanging out with you?" if so kudos to you, but most likely many of you were just using each other to look good.

Not being in the cliques gave me the ability and insight on what not to do and how not to act.
I was able to tap into my gift and talent and discover who I am. It took many years to find my hidden talents. In some aspects I'm still searching. Just like the NerdGician. He's searching. Just like in this video below. He is searching to be someone else, but in the end he discovers that the beauty is not cosmetic or peer pressure the beauty is within. A few years ago I had the privilege of trying to put up a Alumini site. It was very rewarding for me. Rewarding for me in the way that, well...lets just say it was a great learning experience. I made some friends or let me rephrase that. i reunited with some old friends. Friends that I haven't talked to in years. So I guess I at least got something out of it.

It's kind of amazing how even as adults we don't really change to much. We have pretty much the same personality. We still hang out with the same people.

Yes! society has really pulled a fast one on us. "The Look of love" is definitely a song we should listen to and practice.
When we give into pure pressure or feel like we have to hang with a certain clique to be socially connected, you're short changing yourself. SCREW Society! BE YOU! LIVE for who you are and for your wonderful GIFT and TALENT!
In the END we are all NERDS.
