The IMAGINATOR- Invented and Created By: Mark Presley www,facesofmagic.com
To me magic is a form of power that we seem to take for granted and just knock it off as a effect or trick. I'll try to keep this somewhat simple and not reveal magicians techniques because I get many people visiting this blog that are not magicians. By the way WELCOME magicians that are visiting. We as magicians have many ways to manipulate, control, foresee and control our effects in order for the magic to take place and be successful. Was it a TRICK or was it real magic? Maybe being able to control or make someone do what we want them to do REALLY is magic, but we were told since the early beginning that magic doesn't exist. To me everything is MAGIC, but we don't realize it because we see it everyday. I can't IMAGINE what it must feel like for some blind people that by some miracle come out of blindness and see the world for the first time. That must look amazing. We as MAGICIANS have the wonderful gift of reminding everyone that we do live in a magical world. It's just to bad that we have to use deception and lie to people to help them see and feel the MAGIC when it's already around us.
We idolize money more than the tree it came from. Both can make you grow, but only one has roots so it can continue to grow and be stable, supply us with fruit, shade, bark, gum, syrup and even a place to build a clubhouse. Yet! we are credited more then the tree with the clothes we wear, the car we drive, the job we have and so on......it's no wonder that all of these distractions keeps our brain occupied enough that we are just to tired to appreciate the simple things. Everything is RUSH! RUSH! FASTER! FASTER! heck! those days of performing a card assembly story routine seems over. I literally would be performing magic while people are texting or on the phone and because they look up once in awhile they think that that's good enough. Meanwhile they have no clue that you made their wallet disappear. We are all living in a faced paced world and many of us are so stressed.
We feel like we have to have constant communication with one another, furthering us from seeing and appreciating time in slowness. These days people are walking and texting just as much as driving and texting. I once witnessed a young lady texting. Not paying attention, she stumbled right through some beautiful flowers and just kept going. She probably didn't even realize it. Driving, now that's another story. Peoples driving habits and behavior is my pet peeve. Don't get me wrong! I had my sheer of tickets and I at one time loved to speed. Especially when I had my 1977 Camaro. By the way if your ever in the market for a old Camaro or Firebird I recommend this website http://www.camarosandfirebirds.com/camaros/used-camaros-for-sale.php Okay! back to the driving discussion and why my pet peev. It's like your in the indy 500 and everyone is competing for not a trophy! but time. Yes! time. somehow people seem to think that by speeding, running lights, arrows that we are saving so much time. Not really. When I talk about speeding, I don’t mean driving like 4 0r 5 MPH over the speed limit. I'm talking 15 pr more over over the speed limit and you start tailgating me, Now I'm getting ticked off. Here is some speed statistics I found at this website. http://mindyourdecisions.com/blog/2011/09/30/how-much-time-does-speeding-save/
Let’s do some math.
In the standard 45 MPH zone:
A car driving 50 MPH will cover 1 mile of road in 3600/50 = 72 seconds.
A car driving 60 MPH will cover 1 mile of road in 3600/60 = 60 seconds.
Assuming you live 5 miles away from your school and assuming the whole path is a 45 MPH zone (which it isn’t):
The 50 MPH car will arrive in 72 x 5 = 360 seconds = 6 minutes.
The 60 MPH car will arrive in 60 x 5 = 300 seconds = 5 minutes.
How many times have you seen a speeder weaving in and out only to see them just a few cars ahead at a stop sign? Yet! they seem perfectly okay with it and are clueless. To me it's just plain selfish. Not only are they putting them selves in danger, but others as well. It's usually the innocent ones that are victims. These speeders have no respect or regard for human life. It's all okay for them until the paramedic is scrapping their face off the windshield. My best friend, Mike Donavan. Founder of www.faces4.org had lost his daughter and grandson to a 100mph speeder. Mike took something horrible and horrific and turned it into something positive. He now does public speaking, makes appearances and educates people on the importance of speeding. It is through him that Ive become somewhat of a advocate of speeding. Back in may 2012 Mike asked me if I could be a spokesperson as the IMAGINATOR
to help bring in crowds to his booth so they can pass out flyers, talk and educate people on driving safety. For this event I modified and customized the IMAGINATOR wings and put Mikes website in the wings. I performed magic IMAGINATOR style and one every so often I would spread my wings to reveal the website. It was so cool helping Mike, his wife and crew out.
I hope I haven't lost you yet, but what I'm trying to get to is that we are so far from appertaining everything that we have. What we have is never good enough. Just like MAGIC, most of us looking for the next Hottest magic effect.
I on the other hand try to appreciate the little things. I have a family and a wonderful son. It's hard to make people that don't have a family understand. When you have a family It kind of puts things in perspective of what's important. To me getting home safe so that I can continue to provide and take care of my family would be the responsible thing to do, but to others such as speeders it's more important that they get to wherever they are going at any cost. Even if they only gain 4 minutes.
This is a form of control. It makes them feel superior and powerful to control ones actions. Usually these types of people have low self, confidence esteem. Kind of like a bully. They get a high off of belittling, degrading or just controlling what they want you to do. I figured a Mind, body language control technique that works about 99% of the time. I'm sure many people when they are being tailgated has flipped up the mirror as a sign that either you don't give a dam that their tailgating or your so intimidated that you don't want to see their mean mug in the mirror. Sometimes the flipping of the mirror works, but most of the time not. NOW! are you ready? here is my MAGICAL, MANIPULATING, CONTROLLING TECHNIQUE! REMEMBER? "MPH" called: MIND, PSYCHOLOGY, HANDLING. all I do is when there is a tailgater behind me and their is no cars in the other lane I know immediately what their intentions are. FOR ME TO GIVE IN AND GO THE SPEED THEY WANT TO GO!
All I do is put up my right hand behind my head while my elbow is extended out in a relaxation mode. When the tailgater sees this it totally wipes any thought of the being in control. They ten usually just speed around you, slow down enough to give you a dirty look and then they just proceed to speed and be clueless of all the beauty around us. To them it's just a blur. Little do they know is that we were the ones in control. We CONTROLLED, MANIPULATED, FORESEEN the outcome and PREDICTED the OUTCOME of what would happen. So back to the beginning of this blog.
Maybe being able to control or make someone do what we want them to do REALLY is magic, but we were told since the early beginning that magic doesn't exist." Next time your being tailgated PLEASE try my technique of MIND CONTROL and post your experience here. You just might discover that we are all magic and that when we go for our beliefs and try to take control of ourselves and not let others CONTROL us that we are the real MAGICIANS. Because we NOW get it! It's the SIMPLE things in LIFE!
