did a excellent job performing in the contest. It's always a joy to hear a audience shake the room when Tim Performs. I really enjoyed his jumbo card routine. It was so awesome being a part of the competition as my character the "Imaginator" The Imaginator is now on the back burner mode as I'm working on new material for the character and hopefully bringing strong messages to the kids as well as parents. I think it's so important to inspire kids to be creative, use their imagination and try to set good examples to other kids. Sometimes all it takes is to take a stand to whats right and hopefully you will get a few that will notice and follow your beliefs and respect to others.
I'm now in full focus as well as determined to get my "Butterfly in a Box" complete. Thanks to my wife Tracey and my son Gabe for being understanding during my many hours of filming my butterfly video tutorial. Tracey has helped me a great deal with putting the effect together as well as the packaging. The last few weeks I was filming my butterfly in a few locations so I could get some audience reaction. One place in particular was Barnaby's Pizza in Arlington Heights, Il. Where I have been performing magic for over 18 years. I have been testing my butterfly there under extreme conditions close - up magic.
Some other places I have been performing and doing test runs is at carnivals, parks and on the street. I even came up with my own genre in magic that I call "Butterfly Free Style" That's where you perform it in very fast, short performance time. Basically you reach down to the ground, come up in a cupped position. You then release the butterfly, catch it! and then put it back on the ground, flower or even your pocket and then walk away or go into your next effect.
It took an estimated 250 video shoots for my butterfly video tutorial just to get the right footage that I was happy with. After the footage It was time to do the editing which took another several weeks just to complete. At some times I had very frustrating moments when something didn't look right and I had to retake the footage. Friday September 28th I stayed up very late trying to get the editing done so I could then export the project to dvd. I actually fell asleep at my studio desk. I awoke to a mouse trap going off. I then tried to go back to sleep, but couldn't so I decided to check my facebook. I was surprised to discover that I got a message form Jeff McBride telling me that my "Butterfly in a Box" will be on his live Internet show http://www.livestream.com/mcbridemagic sometime in October or November. I was very honoed to read that form Jeff since he is on of my favorite magic artists. I just love the story and mythology behind his masks, fans and transformation.
Here it is today October 1st and I finished the completion of the dvds. They are now being burnt and packaged in the "Butterfly in a Box" box. LOL! My unveiling of the "Butterfly in a Box" will be on October 30th at 11:30pm central at my website http://facesofmagic.com/Faces_Of_Magic/Butterfly_in_a_box.html I will be going live and unveiling the full version video trailer. Please visit Jeff McBride's website for my "Butterfly in a Box" review.
Thanks again for all of you that visit my blog and I wish you the best.
Best Magical wishes,
Mark Presley
