Magic Clubs "That which cannot change will not survive."

I received this email today from Darlene Bull. It's ironic that the very one topic that I talk about often is magic clubs. Apparently I'm not the only one with these feelings. It seems that many other magicians feel the same way. So much that someone actually wrote a book on it. I think this would be a good investment for myself and future clubs.

This really made my day. It reinforced that my thinking isn't crazy. In order for magic clubs to survive they have to act as a team and when it becomes cliquey, selective support, a popularity contest, who can do something better then the other, not opening the club to open dialogue, answers, questions or announcements to it's members then what's the purpose other then to show everyone in the club how great the person running it is?

We all get inspired by other magicians and when a club member invents or creates something it should get noticed and addressed so maybe other club members can be inspired or tap into a gift or talent that they didn't know they had, but found that gift or talent from another club member who gave them inspiration

If you analyze the word magic one thing that comes to my mind is that the word has five letters. Stop what you're doing right now and hold up one hand in the air How many fingers do you see? Five! that's right five. The five fingers on the hand can symbolize many things that have to do with magic and support to our magic peers.

A simple wave or goodbye, a magic pass with your hand as your passing over a magic prop and saying  Hocus! Pocus! a pat on the back, a one handed cut using you FIVE fingers or a simple shake to say hello, how are you? Can I HELP YOU!
YES! the word magic is magical. It's a five letter word that also is a part of our body, our hands to make the magic happen.

This statement is so true. It can be witnessed as to what is happening to so many magic clubs... Dwindling memberships, lack of truly engaged leadership, the inability to attract new younger members.
"But this is the way we've always done it." . . . "Well, it's always worked in the past." . . "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" . If these statements sound familar, are you setting your club up for ultimate decline or failure?Announcing the release of my new book, Your Magic Club . . . A Road Map To Success.
