These last few months have been so tiring for me. I have been doing a lot of traveling and bringing my video gear to get some video testimonials for my new effect called "Turbo Tube" Thank goodness I acquired some frequent air miles from a fellow magician to help me out. Join my facebook event page to participate in a contest which will be on Sunday, September 29th, 2013 starting 4pm central standard time. I will be giving away one free "Turbo Tube" Here is the link.https://www.facebook.com/events/163689877159732
Anyway please watch the video to get a better understanding of my effect "Turbo Tube" and what people that have seen it think. Do you ever get tired of over produced or over market magic products? I do and so I decided to make a point, and get to the point. Seriously! why would someone who invented a magic effect want to do a video shoot of being in a dark alley with a deck of Bicycle cards? Although that might work out to your advantage if you have some not so pleasant person approach you. I would have to admit that sometimes over marked magic products bother me, but let me play the devils advocate. Being on the other side of magic, which is the inventing side.
I can understand how inventors and producers could get sucked into producing magic products as if it was a movie trailer or short commercial. Anyway I guess I would say "why not!" why not have fun and enjoy what you do as well as your magical creations? I mean! no matter how one tries you're not going to make everybody happy, so why not do it for yourself and have fun? There is always going to be somebody that disapproves of your artistic approach or your magic effect, but that's what makes it great. I kind of find it enjoyable filming, editing and producing my own magic videos and trailers.
I think one of my favorite magic videos is "Magic Geek" Brian and Chris are pioneers in selling and marketing the magic and videos for their company.
My all time favorite magic trailer is the Devlin Dollar. I think it's such a well done and classy effect.
Here is a description of the effect.
A $1 bill visually transforms into a $100 bill without ANY folding. That's right . . . No Folding! And no concealments in either hand! This is an incredible transformation from any denomination into another and with most world currency - YOU choose!
This beautiful effect and method is revolutionary - requiring NO folding of the bill, thumb tip or ANY switches for the visual transformation. This is ONE BILL that literally morphs into another in the most astonishing visual magical way--it's movie magic--LIVE!
Comes complete with special gimmicks, four routines and step-by-step detailed instructions from the creator and award-winning magician Joe Devlin. Plus Criss Angel's street performance routine is also included. THIS IS A MUST HAVE IN YOUR MAGIC ARSENAL!
So this is my thoughts on magic product trailers. I understand that many magicians just want to see the effect and not waste time with special effects and drama, while there is others who like it. So maybe as producers we have to alter our thinking a change so that we can accommodate everyone.
Why not make several videos of the effect and the potential customer can choose what version they want to watch? You could have several video themes on your website for magicians to choose from. Such as
1. Just get to the point!
2. Dramatic
3. Insperational
4. Emotional
5. Comical
6. What the!
7. Hollywood
8. Get me out of here!
