WHAT DOES A MAGIC COMPETITION BENEFIT?

Question about magic competitions. Do theses contests really do anything? I'm entering into a magic competition, but I'm doing it just because I love the edge of your feet nervous adrenalin rush. Call me crazy. Does anyone else have this weird desire for the competition rush? Do Magic competitions do anything? Pros, cons, the good, the bad, the ugly.

To me a magic competition is not really trying to be the best , but just being the best that you can be. It's about putting your best material together. Writing a script and having your act perfectly timed to the second. A contest is different then doing a show. A show you might get away with a few mishaps. A contest is less forgiving and very little room or no room at all for error. And then the mc introduces you and suddenly you realize this is it!

No matter what happens I'm going to try my best to be the best and not be flawless or make mistakes. You enter onto the stage and your adrenalin kicks in. It's your time! Your judgment! IT IS MAGIC TIME!   All comments welcome.

I tended to do them just to show off what I could do. I would rather be the crowd favorite than take home a fancy paperweight.
