TRANSITION and CHANGE

I need some ideas! HELP! I'm doing a special show for adults that have lost their jobs and are no longer employed. I was hired because of the way I'm able to theme my magic. However! I may need some help in areas of comedy. I would like to open up with some comical lines that would be themed into "Transition and Change" This show I'm doing will be in December, only a few weeks away from the holiday and for some that have just lost their job on top of having no job. It might be a little challenging. I really want to stimulate and inspire these people and hopefully some good things will come their way. This will be at a University where they have a program outreach that helps unemployed adults get back on their feet.

Any ideas on some funny lines to say as I'm introducing myself. Breaking the ice before going into my first effect?

For a grand finale:
I was thinking about talking, how all through our lives we have been going through transitions. From birth, baby, toddler, teenager to adult. We experienced different tastes and smells that we liked as a child, but may not like them now or vice/versa.

As adults we may even go through several different relationships, friends, even jobs. And now we all find ourselves right now going through another transition. Finding a career, but most important finding ourselves.

(AT THIS TIME I'M TAKING OUT MY BUTTERFLY IN A BOX EFFECT. OPENING THE BOX AND TAKING OUT THE BUTTERFLY)

Let’s explore a butterfly’s life cycle in detail, including all four stages of life. The Butterfly has to go through many transitions in it's life span before it even becomes a butterfly.  Lets look at some of the stages. The stages can kind of be compared to us as people and how we all have growing stages in our lives as well.

The First Stage: The Egg

A butterfly starts life as a very small, round, oval or cylindrical egg.

The Second Stage: The Larva (Caterpillar)

When the egg finally hatches, most of you would expect for a butterfly to emerge, right? Well, not exactly. In the butterfly’s life cycle, there are four stages and this is only the second stage. At this stage the Caterpillar will eat alot so can start growing and expanding.

 The Third Stage: Pupa (Chrysalis)

The pupa stage is one of the coolest stages of a butterfly’s life. As soon as a caterpillar is done growing and they have reached their full length/weight, they form themselves into a pupa, also known as a chrysalis. Within the chrysalis the old body parts of the caterpillar are undergoing a remarkable transformation, called ‘metamorphosis,’ to become the beautiful parts that make up the butterfly that will emerge. Tissue, limbs and organs of a caterpillar have all been changed by the time the pupa is finished, and is now ready for the final stage of a butterfly’s life cycle.

The Fourth Stage:

Adult Butterfly Finally. Usually within a three or four-hour period, the butterfly will master flying and will search for a mate in order to reproduce. When in the fourth and final stage of their lives, adult butterflies are constantly on the look out to reproduce and when a female lays their eggs on some leaves, the butterfly life cycle will start all over. All butterflies have "complete metamorphosis." To grow into an adult they go through 4 stages: egg, larva, pupa and adult. Each stage has a different goal - for instance, caterpillars need to eat a lot, and adults need to reproduce. Depending on the type of butterfly, the life cycle of a butterfly may take anywhere from one month to a whole year.

(AFTER  I SAY THE ABOVE SCRIPT I WILL THEN MAKE THE BUTTERFLY FLY AROUND. LAND IN MY HAND IN LAST, VANISH)

Transition and Change effect us in many ways. For Butterflies, they die after they lay eggs or by the changes of weather. For people, we have to adapt to constant CHANGE and TRANSITION. Like a beautiful butterfly who spreads it's wings for the first time we have to spread our wings.

(I  WILL EDIT MOST OF SCRIPT ABOVE TO MAKE IT SHORTER. IT'S JUST FOR YOU TO GET AN IDEA OF WHERE I'M GOING WITH THIS. TO WRAP IT ALL UP. I'M GOING TO TRANSFORM THE BUTTERFLY INTO A BEAUTIFUL SNOWSTORM. IT WILL END LIME THIS)

We all have transitions and challenges. Whether you're a animal, insect or a human. Even the seasons have challenges and transitions. In the summer if it's to hot and no rain the grass dies. In the fall we need storms to help make the leaves fall and in the winter snow forms in clouds when the air temperature reaches below freezing. Water molecules come out of the air and stick together in special patterns of little ice crystals. Then the ice crystals keep getting bigger or tangle up in little clumps to form snowflakes. Like snow which is a beautiful transition of seasons I hope that my magic will motivate you to focus on your season and inspire you to transform into what and who you want to be.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF! AND TRANSFORM! (After I say that line I will end in a snowstorm) That's about it. Again! I'm going to edit and cut it down alot so I don't bore the audience. I'm thinking of using this in the ending of my show and I'm kind of stuck with a opening and middle. There is just so many magic effects you can do with the "Change and Transition" them that I'm confused on what to do. So if you gave any ideas, please comment here or back at the SME link.
Also if you have any ides on how to make the butterfly script above shorter that would be great.

Happy Magical Times,
Mark Presley
